FOCUS 2 is an online, interactive, self-guided career and education planning system.

FOCUS 2 CAREER engages and guides you, intuitively, through career & education decision making to help you choose majors offered at WSSU, explore occupations & make informed career decisions. The cutting edge design will reliably help you plan for and achieve career success throughout your lifetime.

How to Setup Your FOCUS2 ACCOUNT and Log In

You will need the access code to register.

New Users

  1. Create your MCCFOCUS2 account on the registration page.
  2. Please remember, you will need the access code to register; the access code is: monroe58
  3. Complete your registration by creating an account.
  4. After creating an account, the system will prompt you to begin the assessment.

Returning Users

  1. Log in to FOCUS 2
  2. Enter your username and password
  3. After you log in FOCUS 2, you will be led to your Dashboard
  4. If you forget your username and/or password, go to FOCUS 2 forgot password page to have this information automatically sent to your email.

Using FOCUS 2

FOCUS 2 is designed to walk you through the beginning steps of your career planning process. You can review any parts of the system at any stage in your process.

  • My Career Planning Readiness
    A self-assessment tool that helps you determine where you stand on the path of your career 
  • My Academic Strengths
    A self-assessment tool that helps you determine where your academic strengths and weakness exist. Recognizing your academic strengths will bring you one step closer to pursuing a satisfying area of study and career path. 
  • Self- Assessment
    Used to help you learn more about how your personality, skills, values and what you enjoy doing in your free time which can lead to your career path. The following are under the Self-Assessment:
    • Work Interest: will identify occupations and tasks you most enjoy 
    • Personality: matches your personality type to compatible occupations 
    • Skills: identify occupations that match your profile 
    • Values: identify occupations that are compatible with your work values
    • Leisure Interest: identify occupations that provide opportunities and activities compatible with your leisure preference
    • Combine: the results from the assessments and give a table of the top careers that best suit student’s answers

    Used to help students browse different career and occupations.

MCC students: Once you complete the FOCUS 2 assessment, it is highly recommended that you schedule an appointment with a career counselor to discuss your results. The easiest way for students to view appointment availability and schedule appointments is via Handshake (6fuh.51jiyangshi.com/depts/careercenter/handshake/). Make sure to use your MCC email address when signing in. Once you sign in to Handshake just click on the Career Center link in the left nav bar and then click on appointments.

Professional career counselors can assist you with a range of career-related issues on an individual basis.  Working with a counselor is an effective method for discussing the FOCUS 2 results and exploring career options related to your academic program.

How much time do I need to set aside to complete FOCUS2?

FOCUS2 includes five different self-assessments. The time required to complete each is approximately 15 minutes. You may complete as many assessments in one sitting as your time will allow. You have unlimited access to FOCUS2 so that at any time you can go back and complete the remaining assessments and spend additional time researching the more than 1000 different occupational choices.
